The Story…

Beth didn’t attend any antenal classes, however she did have a simple birth plan that indicated her wish not to have an epidural or any students nurses/doctor/midwives in the room. Her wish was for it just her, her partner and Mum. It was really important to Beth that her Fiancé was there to see his baby girl coming the world, and she knew that her Mum would be a massive support to help her through the labour process. 12 days after her due date Beth went into labour and Lily was born in the early hours of the 13th day after a labour that in her own words went ‘perfectly’. Mum and baby were back at home getting to know each other the following day.

Beth’s advice to other Mums  Cherish every moment during pregnancy and thereafter, enjoy seeing your baby grow inside you, and watching her/him grow when they’ve entered the world. I often think about Lily’s birth and the feelings & emotions that came with it, and I wouldn’t have changed it. It’s the most amazing experience you’ll ever go through.
Anton’s advice to other birth partners  Don’t walk into the delivery suite and ask if your partner is alright! Haha. On a serious note, just be there, be supportive and be prepared to be overwhelmed, because what’s about to happen in the next few hours is out of your control and all you can do is be there, next to them.
